This is a Creative Wellness Activity
"Crafting is the art of turning ordinary objects into extraordinary things."
Our headdress class is more than just a crafting class to make wearable art, it is a self-care activity.
Research has proven that making things by hand is a way to decrease stress, relieve anxiety and improve mental health.
You will be in a creative environment with beautiful adornments with relaxing music playing in the background.
We have a selection of hot teas for you to drink from our vintage tea cups. You can also B.Y.O.B
What Happens in the Class
"One should either be a work of art or wear a piece of art." - Oscar Wilde
To inspire you, we begin with a slide show of headdress styles.
Then you choose your flowers and embellishments. Exploring our vast range of materials is half of the fun!
Then you return to your workstation which will have your crafting tools and a mannequin head wearing a headband.
Our instructor will consult with you on best practices to execute your design.
SUSTAINABLE CRAFTING MATERIALS
"Creativity is making marvelous out of the discarded."
We have an amazing variety of realistic looking faux flowers and foliage.
Besides faux flowers we have embellishments such as feathers, rhinestones, pearls, butterflies, shells, succulents and much more!
Many of our crafting materials are from reuse sources like estate sales and the prop department of retail stores.
We prefer faux flowers over fresh so that with care, your headdress can last for years.
Beginners are Welcome
"The artist is not a special kind of person; rather, each person is a special kind of artist."
No previous crafting experience is necessary. If you can use a glue gun, you can design an amazing headdress.
Our photo gallery has examples of the designs our students have made.
Most of our students had never made a headdress before or were new to crafting.
Some students, especially those who came because a friend brought them or their job paid for it, did not consider themselves crafty or creative.
Our instructor will provide you with the guidance and inspiration to make your vision a reality.
